Introducing Spinn

Spinn is an acoustic pop/rock band from New Jersey and made up with Stephanie Spinner, Cheryl Lynn Spinner, Megan Battaglia, Steve DeSteno and Dominick Velardo.

"Reminiscent of the Dixie chicks, the Gin Blossoms and the acoustic-laden styling of Ray Lamontagne, their unique melody lines grab audiences’ attention immediately and their ability to blend different genres always proves to entertain and inspire."

The band has released its debut album "She Was Heartache" in 2009. You can listen to "One Good Reason", a song from this album below.

In 2013, they are back with a new 8 songs album called "A Little Crazy". This album contains both ballads and rock and rythmed songs. Each song is transported by the beautiful blend of the girls' voices. If I had one song from this album to recommend to you, it would be "A Little Crazy". This song get stuck easily on your head.

Becka Pimenta is "So Beautiful"

Two years ago, I introduced you to Becka Pimenta, an amazing pop/soul singer-songwriter from England. Do you remember the song "Walking Contradiction" from her last EP "Stars and Owls"? I had participated to her pledgemusic campaign in 2011 and I must admit that it was a good investment. I recommend it to you if you haven't listen to it yet.

After 2 quiet years, Becka Pimenta is back with a new single "So Beautiful". It's great song that get inside your head very quickly. By listening to this new song, I've realized how much I have missed Becka's sound. I think you should like it too.

Introducing Lily Virginia

Lily Virginia is a singer-songwriter hailing from West California and now based out in New York City. She has spent 7 years in Argentina and Brazil to study music, which has probably gave her this touch of originality in her music.

Lily Virginia's music  influences are varying from Angel Olsen and Sharon Van Etten to the Pixies and Wye Oak. Her music style is a mix of pop, rock, americana and also folk music. Her voice is delicately powerfull and has an indescribable little something more.

She is actually working on her debut EP. 2 songs on 5, "Dreamtrain" and "Yuriko" are already available on bandcamp.

"Dreamtrain" is a beautiful ballad about love and relationship. The melody of that song is haunting. It starts like a whisper to your ears and intensifies as we go along the song advances, to finally let us sweep away by the whirlwind of the music.

The official video for "Yuriko" has been premiered yesterday on The Deli Magazine. I really like the visual effects in that video which are very well integrated into the landscape. The rythm of that song take you away in the twinkling of an eye and get stuck in your head quickly.

I like the touch of originality that Lily Virginia has in her songs. Some aspects of her songs make me think about tribal songs, when the vocals get bigger and the magic of the moment catches you. Lily Virginia hasn't finished to surprised us !

Introducing Gina Cimmelli

Gina Cimmelli is a singer-songwriter hailing from Brooklyn. Music has always been a part of her life, as her great-grandmother was an Italian opera singer and her grandfather a multi-instrumentalist from the golden days of radio. She has been graduated from the famous Berklee College of Music.

"Though often held in the same light as Feist or Regina Spektor, subtle timbres in her voice show hints of Billy Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald, revealing a stylistic approach that’s both relevant and timeless."

Gina Cimmeli is far to be a beginner in the music world. She has released her debut EP "Don't Be Mad" in 2009, following by the single "Forget" in May 2012 and her first album "Gina's Picture Show" in August 2012. Maybe some of you have already heard about Gina thanks to The Independent Music Awards. She was a winner of the 10th annual program in the folk/singer-songwriter category with her song "Don't Be Mad".

Gina Cimmelli - "Don't Be Mad"

Gina Cimmelli - "Aviator"

This summer, she is back with a new EP called "Summer Singles". The EP contains 3 songs in a various genre and with different emotions. But even in songs which are more sad, Gina manages to make them shine with a touch of joy.

The first single released of this EP is "Clementine". This song debuted on the American Songwriter. It's a beautiful song about a long-distance relationship. This song has an haunting melody.

The second song released of "Summer Singles" is "Like I Did". This song, about an ended relationship, has an intoxicating rhythm.

I have listened to all Gina's songs (you can listen to them on Spotify).  The huge force and common point all her songs have, is that she captivates you from the first second. She makes you take the train I you don't leave it until you've finished the trip in her musical atmosphere.

Open the "Doors" on Ida Gard's new single

Today Ida Gard bring to light the 3rd single "Doors" of her new upcoming album of the same name. This song, which is now available on itunes, reflects perfectly Ida Gard's musical style.

This new single is looking good to be on of my favorite song of the album. "Doors" is a bit more rock than the previous songs "U Gonna Come?" and "Beginners". This song talks about doors closing behind us at some moment of our life. "Doors" combines touching verses to catchy chorus rythmed by electric guitars.

All I can say is that "Doors" promise to be a really good album to listen to. The official release is September, 16th and you can already pre-order it on itunes.

If you live in Denmark or in Germany, Ida will on tour in your countries between September, 26th and October, 31rst.

Introducing Melon & The Mayhem

"A sassy, female-fronted, five-piece band from Nashville reflects the sultry jazz singers of the 1920s and puts a modern spin on the saxophone-infused swing bands of Sinatra's time."

Melon & The Mayhem is a band from Nashville headed by Mary Ellen Klein (vocals/piano). The band has released their debut EP "Light On" in June 2012. This EP contains 4 songs of a quite varied music style. "Light On" combines rock songs as "A.D.D Song" with jazzy songs as "Alone Together". My favorite song of this EP is "Never". This song is more soulful, the rythm catchy. I never get tired of listening to that song.

This month they are back with a new version of their song "Alone Together". This song make us travel through the 1920s with a jazzy sound. The song is haunting and sultry. It's the kind of music we hear quite rarely now, but this song is a pure moment of relaxation.

Introducing Sonali

In the series of talented young artists, here's a new gem hailing from Florida. Sonali is an amazing singer-songwriter and also a multi-instrumentalist who plays keyboard, drums and bass, ... She is also an incredible guitarist. Take a look at her cover of the solo of Santana's song "Soul Sacrifice".

Sonali sings and play music since her younger age. In fall of 2012, Sonali was invited to attend the prestigious Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music, housed in New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. Maybe you already had the occasion to watch this video of the cover of "Diamonds" by Rihanna she did with her classmates.

Sonali has released her debut EP "Speechless" in February 2012. This EP is a mix of 5 pop/rock songs which get inside your head really quickly and whom you never get tired of listening to it. This EP was already a great debut album for these upcoming artists and let presume amazing songs in the future. "Speechless" is available on itunes. Sonali has decided to donate all the sales of this EP to Smile Train Organization, an international charity that provides free cleft surgery for thousands of poor children in developing countries.

Sonali has released the song "Nothing Left" in september, 2012, a catchy pop/rock song. This song is also available on itunes.

Now that she is based in New York, Sonali's muscial tastes has expanded. She is back with a new single "September" in August 13, 2013, who was produced by Justin Tracy. This new song is more acoustic. It is refreshing and colourful song... a perfect for summer time. "September" makes me think about Kina Grannis's musical style. For all the amtateur of this genre, you won't be deceived !

Introducing Little Creatures

Few days ago, a friend of mine told me about the band Little Creatures and recommended me to give them a listen cause they were amazing. Well, she was  100 % right ! Little Creatures is a fantastic rock band !

"... a duo steeped in classic pop-rock, with bright melodic hooks and just enough crunch to really sink your teeth in."

Little Creatures is band based out in Toronto and made up with Chris Ioannou (vocals, guitar) and Alison MacLean (drums and award-winning songwriter).

Originally, Chris was the rhythm guitarist and backup singer for Alison’s band Calling Wendy, the first outfit that Alison put together on her own. Alison was searching for the right vocalist without finding one that matched and after some times, Chris has appeared to be the perfect singer for "Little Creatures".

Little Creatures - "Lovelorn"

Their songs “Lovelorn” (2010) and “The Letter” (2012) have won accolades from the ISC (International Songwriting Competition).  Little Creatures have released their debut self-titled EP in June 2012. This Ep contains five catchy songs. It's hard to choose one or two songs from this EP as they are all awesome, but I would say that my favourite track is "Rainfall". After my first listen of this album, my first thought was "I want to listen to more songs!".

Little Creatures - "Rainfall"

Alison and Chris are really good musicians and I think you should like Chris' voice and their great songs. If you like their music, you can buy Little Creatures' EP on bancamp or itunes.

Currently, Little Creatures is finishing up a full-length album as a follow-up to their self-titled debut EP, so expect new songs soon.

Little Creatures - "Breakdown"

Introducing Elli Schoen

Elli Schoen is a singer-songwriter from Fremantle in Western Australia. She performs accompagnied by Anthony Doherty on Drums, Tom Lucy on Bass, and Josh Harwood on Lead Guitar.

Elli has a unique tone of voice. I think this sentence from her bio describe it quite well : "Elli's voice is one that will take you on a journey with its seductive growling lows and soaring highs, all delivered with her trademark effervescent energy. "

Elli has released her debut EP "Love in Suburbia" in May 30th, 2013. You can buy it here. This EP contains several songs with a bewitching rythm like in "Love in Suburbia" or "Swooned". These songs are really catchy.

Elli Schoen - "Swooned" + interview @ Mojos Bar

This EP also contains a powerfull ballad called "Fourteen", which is the second single of this EP.

It's a pity that we can't listen to more songs at the moment. It's quite easy to feel transported by the effervescent and mesmerizing energy of Elli's music. I hope she will write another EP or a debut album soon.

Jessica Morhall, the singer-songwriter from Perth, WA, has released her debut EP "Leave It All Behind".  This EP is available on itunes, CDbaby and The Holding Pattern. You can also stream it on soundcloud.

This new EP include 4 pop songs infused with soul and blues. I've been listening to this EP for a week now, and it's the kind of EP of which we don't get tired to listen to over and over again. There is something mesmerizing and relaxing in "Leave It All Behind" with  pureness and emotion in Jessica's beatuiful voice, mostly accompanied by the melody of her piano. These 4 catchy and haunting songs tell stories to which all listeners can relate.

Brooke Annibale

Brooke Annibale is a singer-songwriter from Pittsburg, PA and now based out in Nashville, TN. You have already had the occasion to listen to one of her song "By Your Side", which was featured on the Mixtape volume one : Indie Valentine. It's also how I started to get to know her music.

Brooke has released her first full-length album "Silence Worth Breaking" in 2011. This album has been described as  “phenomenal” by Stereo Subversion and Glide Magazine hailed as “the kind of record that some artists wait their whole lives to make”.

Brooke Annibale is back this year with a new EP "Words In Your Eyes", which has been released February 5, 2013.
"the six tracks that comprise Words in Your Eyes are worth stopping whatever you are doing so they can be savored. “Silence Worth Breaking”—which did not make the final cut for the album it was named after—features Annibale’s new electric-meets-ambient sound and razor-sharp lyrics about the importance of communicating even if the subject is a difficult one."

By discovering all of her music, I've been immediatly captivated by her soft and bewitching voice. All of her songs exudes sensibility, accompagnied by well-written lyrics. This EP is an invite to a travel in the world of relationships, in the small world of things we feel, the feelings that we sometimes keep for us but whom "silence worth breaking".

Scottish Special : Fluorescent Hearts

Fluorescent Hearts is a band from Glasgow and made up of Chris Ashton (vocals and guitar), Andrew Stuart (Bass) and Gary G. (drums).

"What sets Fluorescent Hearts apart from the average pop peddlers inundating the airwaves, is their unabashed love of a kaleidoscopic array of music and their ability to incorporate these influences into a sound that belongs solely to them. Beginning with a childhood love of pop punk and grunge, they maintain their rock roots but sway towards taking a perfect demographic of One Republic’s intricately textured yet song savy composition and Savage Garden’s timeless vocal melodies and sugary sweet instrumentation, singing about love and life, drumming up familiar emotions anyone can relate to."

Fluorescent Hearts have released their debut album "Anthem" on september 2012. This album is available on itunes and on their store. It's a great pop/rock album. These guys have all the ingredients to become a successful rock band.

Fluorescent Hearts - "Tell Her You Love Her"

Fluorescent Hearts - "Anthem Of The Heart"

Fluorescent Hearts - "Gasoline"
