Matthew Mayfield - "Take What I Can"

Another great song from Matthew Mayfield's new record "A Blanquet For Ghost"

If finders were keepers, I'd still be at home

take it or leave it, i'll show you the ropes

when you no longer see me

i'll be gone

so much for answers, i don't have a clue

i can hear ya, you're calling from outside my room

you're still locked inside me

holding on

so i take what i can get

so i take what i can get

i'll break out your windows, i don't need a key

show me your doubts and i'll make you believe

yeah, you're still here to haunt me

you ain't gone

so i take what i can get

so i take what i can get

if you are coming home

i'll be out on my own

i don't need you

to give me back the open wounds

but if you start to shed your skin

naked heart - wearing thin

when you call

i'll be here

once again

so i take what i can get

so i take what i can get

Matthew Mayfield - "I Don't Know You At All"

Do you feel different

now that you spit me out

do you like hiding

inside his arms for now

babe...

though it hurts me to say

i don't know you that way

i guess the writing's on the wall

i don't know you at all

i'm still waiting

still shivering cold

in my third hour

by this pay phone

babe...

though it hurts me to say

i don't know you that way

i guess the writing's on the wall

i don't know you at all

no i don't know you at all

she ain't mine...no she ain't mine

she ain't mine...no she ain't mine

she ain't mine...no she ain't mine

she ain't mine...no she ain't mine

Matthew Mayfield - "Always Be You"

We are lucky this week. Matthew Mayfield has just posted another song from his upcoming album. I definitly a fan of his music and his voice. This new song is "Always Be You".

in this stream that passes me by...

no dreams, no spirits run dry

i know that you would love to meet me here

i know i've got no choice

two years since i heard your voice

and then you call and say you'd like to talk

haven't you seen these scars

buried inside my skin?

these memories that we've lost

(may) never return again

but it will always .... always...

it will always... be you

you're still the love of my life

despite the fear in your eyes

just know that you are always on my mind

haven't you heard my voice

carried inside the wind

the chemistry that we've lost

will never return again

but it will always...always ...

it will always...be you

it's too bad when push came to shove

i was never worth having

it's too far, too much to ask

if you'll ever be happy

haven't you heard these songs

making their way back in

the melodies that we've sung

(may) never be heard again

but it will always...always ...

it will always ... be you

Matthew Mayfield - "Track You Down"

Here's a new song from Matthew Mayfield 's forthcoming album : Track You Down

sweet lavender on an overcoat--

that scent you left on all my clothes

i can still feel your heartbeat on chest

your breath--it's gone

you can knock me out cold

you can fence me in

keep runnin all you want

but i will track you down

it took a heart of stone to tell the hardest lie

to trade a heart of gold for an alibi

and i can't seem to separate these lines

between the facts and your lies

you can talk all you want

say you're 'all in'

i'll take your ass on...

i will will track you down

your mother, your father

they're long gone by now

the ceremony's over, husband makes his rounds

but senses that something's gone awry outside

and fears wraps its claws around his neck and squeezes tight

there's blood in the water and panic in the air

he's racing, chasing the scent of your hair

but he will chase...

bits of lace

from your wedding in the woods

to your grave...your grave...your grave

i'll lock you up, cold

i'll breathe you in

i'll break you down slow

cus I have tracked you down....

i have tracked you down

i have tracked you down

i have tracked you down
